POPPENKAST is a queer performance and club night organised by fruitfly collective. A community event full of raw honesty, playful chaos, humanity and silliness.
A space made by and for euphoric queer and trans creators, performers and activists. Where we are in control and the spotlight is on us.
The host Strawberry thief will take you into the transformative world of the fruitfly Poppenkast and introduce four authentic performances who move between the disciplines of dance, spoken word and drag.
From 23:00 onwards, you can dance the night away on the dance floor. With three energetic DJ sets bringing you music ranging from hyperpop to texture-driven time travel, back to the 80s to cunty and bouncy songs.
Next to the dance floor, there will also be a cosy area. A space for conversations, playing your own puppet show and watching the puppet video installation. Prizes will also be awarded to the best dressed and for the best dance moves, so dress to express, come for a good wiggle and maybe you’ll also win a fun prize.
Best of Both Worlds is a contemporary dance performance by Luca - a queer interdisciplinary maker. Their work investigates embodiment, identity, transformation and the power of movement within the visual narrative. Best of Both Worlds is an honest conversation with the body and a celebration of the always emerging, always disappearing, always becoming, never finished.
JAE is a poet who reflects on all aspects of her identity as a young Black, Queer woman, and how
that relates to her environment. Using spoken word as a form of self therapy she tries to help
herself and others heal from all open and hidden wounds.
The cockroach made me dance (originally in Spanish “La cucaracha me hizo bailar”) by Raven
van der Steen, created during an art residency in the Peruvian Amazon, is about the relationship between humans and the jungle. Living in the jungle, I initially tried with all my might to keep the (un)vermin out, but at a certain point, I realized that humans might actually be the vermin in the jungle. I show this paradox in this performance, in which I show the cockroach on one side and humans on the other.
Blauwkous and Bent over Binary have their live debut! Gender fucking so hard we might get pregnant from our trans sperm. Cum and experience the wonderful worlds of fucking with your gender!
