ART X LIVE X FOOD and everything in between

12 December 2025 - 14 December 2025 @ Roodkapje Centraal

Exhibition Opening: The land knows you, even when you are lost

Location: Delftseplein 39
Roodkapje proudly presents 'The land knows you, even when you are lost’, an exhibition by Carmen Camilla, Puk Horsten, Jane Callaghan and Marlise Breye. These four artists won the Jan Naaijkens Prize for their exhibition at Kunstpodium T in Tilburg. As part of this prize, their exhibitions travels to a guest venue, in this case Roodkapje!

In 'The land knows you, even when you are lost', four artists come together in a shared exploration of the poetics of material, the transience of form, and the intuitive power of making. They are united by a fascination with processes of change: growth, decay, transformation. Their works emerge from attentive observation: of landscapes, found objects, natural or synthetic materials, traces, and residues.

In this exhibition, clay powder becomes the common foundation from which the works seem to emerge, causing the signature of the individual maker to dissolve into a shared materiality. In doing so, it reflects on how the artists position themselves within the natural world, on their urge to create and their desire to mark their presence. Rather than a finished outcome, the exhibition remains a lingering trace of a performative process, one of appearing and fading, of hesitant gestures, marking, erasing, and starting over.

Artists:

Carmen Camilla
Carmen Camilla (Rotterdam, 1995) creates paintings, assemblages, and sculptural works born from attentive observation. She weaves stories of transformation, where memory, nature, and imagination softly meet. During her walks, she collects small, delicate traces of the world, moss, twigs, and other remnants, which subtly enter her work. Her practice invites stillness, reflection, and quiet wonder.

Puk Horsten
Puk Horsten (Tilburg, 1999) approaches the world with a mindful eye, where traces of transience and transformation quietly emerge in materials and found objects. Inspired by natural processes and serendipitous finds, her work unfolds through listening, not controlling, by attuning to time, decay, fragility, and the forms that emerge on their own.

Jane Callaghan
Jane Callaghan (Chesterfield, UK) transforms everyday materials into artworks. Her works mimic brushstrokes and natural shapes, encouraging viewers to find beauty and creativity in the mundane. She reimagines items with a painterly approach, blending drawing, painting and sculpture into unified visual experiences.

Marlise Breye
Marlise Breye (Belgium, 1998) creates installations that merge scientific inquiry with poetic wonder. Rooted in her lifelong fascination with the natural world, her work isolates and recontextualizes natural phenomena. It invites reflection on the relationship between knowledge and wonder and questions the ways in which scientific systems influence our perception of the world.

A personal note from Kunstpodium T:

Hi! We are Kunstpodium T: a platform for talent development for emerging artists. From the heart of Tilburg, we facilitate encounters between artists in all stages of their careers. Young talent and established artists inspire each other. The focus is not only on practical experience but also on building a lasting community. Our diverse programming also focuses on challenging and experimental art forms with a focus on process.

After art school, you can apply for our Apprentice/Master's program. Each year, we select a group of recently graduated artists. They are paired in groups with a renowned artist. They share ideas, learn from each other, and together create an exhibition at Kunstpodium T or one of the rotating guest venues. The season concludes with a festive celebration: Season Highlights, where four selected groups exhibit without their Master's degrees. This is also the occasion for the presentation of the Jan Naaijkens Prize by an independent jury – the ultimate reward for the most outstanding talents! This year, the prize consisted of a development budget of €1,600 and an exhibition at Roodkapje Rotterdam!
