KILLER TOASTER #3: Jam Sandwich

16:00-23:00 | Tickets
Bring your electronic devices, we bring the toaster (and the mixer)
Dazzling, electrifying, horrifying, is the killer toaster. While the scent of burnt toasts fills the air, it crackles, sprinkles and shackles. Hear it coming! Watch it move! It’s singing.

For this third edition, we explore the mix between electronic music and live drumming, both during the jam session and the live performances. Free access if you join for the first part of the jam session. For the second part, which includes a homemade dinner, live performances, and final jam session after the concert, we ask for a small contribution of 7 euros.

KILLER TOASTER HYBRID ELECTRONIC JAM : where electronic dreams join (PB) jelly toasts and live drums, in a distorted frequencies nightmare. Bring your sound-producing electronic appliances and/or percussive instruments. We bring a live drum kit, a mixer, toaster, homemade bread, delicious jelly and soup.

To keep things organized, we've made a google form with some questions about what you will bring and what you will need! If you'd like to join the jam, please fill in this form<3

Featured sound artists:
Mitsitron
Mitsitron (they/them) is an interdisciplinary artist that has been shaped by soundscapes and public spaces, austerity and forced categorizations, heartbreaks and tenderness. They create sentimental soundscapes through their guitar, electricity, coding, breathing and emotions, operating from a queer place of making sound. They have performed their piece Thanks for listening at AMRO Festival (Linz), Iterations Symposium, Worm and Varia (Rotterdam). They are part of the Platform for Extratonality that organizes live events, broadcasts and workshops around dissident sound making and the sound collective (S)low Frequencies.

Tam Nomad
Tam Nomad is a versatile drummer, percussionist, and synthesist hailing from Delft. Driven by his urge to experiment, he blends live loops of synths and percussion to craft a unique sound that merges electronic music with world beats, grooves, and ambient textures. His performances are a sonic journey where a large part of the show is improvised, making each experience distinct and immersive. In 2024 he released his EP 'To Find A Home', containing improvised ambient work played on a grand piano and a modular synthesizer. Since then he is focussing on harder and more rhythmical work with his live setup.

Isul Kim
Isul Kim works with sound and text to recreate scenes from the ordinary into a poetic dramaturge of the human condition. They are currently pursuing a masters research at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague, where they are investigating the potential of sonic theatre as a platform to showcase the tensions inherent to the communication of ideas in sound. Besides this they are one of the experimental oprah duo Parent and have been working closely with the artist collective Nubala in Berlin.

About the organizers/facilitators:

Viana Afoumou: Former resident of the Hamburger Community (2023-2024) who couldn’t help but stick around Roodkapje. She now programs as a “Significant Other” while serving the best burgers in town at the Burgertrut. Besides that, she works on her own music, jams around (with and without electronic devices) and makes bread, of which you will get a taste at the event.

Samuel Verburg: Designer and musician producing live electronic music under the name Fairburg and frequenting the Rotterdam jams with his saxophone. He also develops his own electronic music gear and creates AI animations.
