Milli Vinylli is an exhibition and performance test site in one. With the 'record/vinyl' as theme the Hamburger Community residents: Viana Afoumou (vixnde), Maja Simišić, Emir Karyo, PIET, and NDNMK Solutions create a space in collaboration with Futura Resistenza. Expect artist records, an artist take on records and sound performances.

For fans of: vinyl, art installations, sounds sculptures, treadmills, performance art

Viana Afoumou's sound installation is powered by a treadmill. Self-burned CDs by the artist can be played by manually powering the treadmill. For the artist, CDs are an alternative and more personal way of sharing music or sound, unlike streaming. The visitor cannot help but walk to listen to the work. The audio consists of self-recorded field recordings of the artist walking through the city. The different CDs represent different walks and different visual moments in the artist's life. Linked to this installation, Viana will do a live performance during the opening of the exhibition on Friday 7 July using the treadmill and the voice as instruments.

NDNMK Solutions invites you to immerse yourself in an in-depth browser experience from which a fictional world is created. Join a "soultrepreneur" community.
Step into the waiting room. A big opportunity awaits you, 5D trauma bonding with like-minded entrepreneurs, a whole line of angels, POV you are a wolf healer, economancer, key maker/hole filler, rainbow snake, community ❤️

Enter the restroom to find a hidden record player, granting you a private concert experience in Maja Simišić's 'Nail Me Home' installation. Percussion made by fake acrylic nails and the artist's own mumbles collide into a vinyl record cut on her passport. This installation follows on from the work 'Biometrical relaxation exercise' created earlier this year during a collaboration with Hocus Bogus Publishing. The prints developed during this collaboration visually support the installation and are integrated as wallpaper for the toilet. The work is related to her ongoing long-term project 'Nail Check'. It connects to her ongoing research on visa/immigration laws that she is developing for her solo showcase at Roodkapje and will be presented later this year.

PIET presents a mobile set of memory devices. Drawings the artist made together with his father, supported by an endless composition on cassette. During the opening, the artist will perform a live set based on cassette tapes he recorded with his father in his early childhood from 1977 - 1997.
PIET is an audiovisual project in which artist Jip Piet explores man's universal memory by Jip Piet. It is the difficult things in life, which are generally not often talked about. Such as small and big traumas, but also the beauty of the final phase of life and the seeds you can plant in future generations. While developing this project, Jip's main aim is not to go down in black thoughts, but rather to give voice to the beautiful and intimate things of life.

Emir Karyo is presenting “1 Eighths of a Lucky Day”, an audio installation that mimicks the wheel of fortune in an unconventional manner. By collaging several custom dubplates of waiting sounds, the wheel of fortune evokes a perpetual anticipation in the viewer.
As viewers engage with the installation, they are encouraged to interact with the wheel of fortune, eagerly spinning it in the hope of a favourable result challenging the traditional understanding of luck and exposing the abstract nature of concepts like disappointment and victory.

Futura Resistenza is a label and platform from Brussels and Rotterdam, that operates somewhere on the border between performance, music and visual arts. The label programs a series of concerts in Roodkapje's venue and leads second mentorship of the Hamburger Community residency in 2023.

HAMBURGER COMMUNITY RESIDENCY
In 2019, Roodkapje introduced its artist-in-residency programs dubbed the Hamburger Community of Art & Live. Since then 21 artists have been developing and showing their work, both in solo exhibitions and working collaboratively with mentors such as Mette Sterre, Nora Turato, Rory Pilgrim and Alexandra Philips.

In 2023, the former two artist residencies Hamburger Community of Art & Live are merged into one program in which interdisciplinary collaboration with each other and with the public is central under the title Hamburger Community – Test Site. To define and put into practice concrete tools for equal artistic exchange among the residents and with our audience, we conduct a methodology research together with artist and researcher Katinka de Jonge. Our goal is to focus on the development of different forms of meeting, exchanging, plotting and colluding.

Roodkapje’s Hamburger Community was made possible with the kind support of Gemeente Rotterdam, Mondriaan Fonds, Stichting Ondernemersbelangen Rotterdam, Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, Stichting Bevordering van Volkskracht, Stichting Elise Mathilde Fonds, Fonds Podiumkunsten
