CURVEBALL COLLECTIVE
Curveball Collective is a group of musicians, artists, composers and improvisers interested in creating new and different approaches to composing and performing music. Experimenting with and challenging the settings in which music is usually experienced, the collective tries to offer a unique experience by relaying on creative process such as ‘establishing very detailed rules but with no pre-conceived sequence of events.’
Imagine the surreal and exciting experience of going to watch a world cup football match with your friends - but knowing that the entire game had a live musical underscore, and the commentary was sung aloud by an opera singer! Our new collective seeks to underscore live sports events in public & semi - public spaces.. through many different composition and improvising techniques, and working together as a collective, we can bring a new experimental context to football viewing. Something playful and challenging at the same time.It is our eventual goal to bring together audiences from contemporary music and sport in a new and original way.
We will be screening a historical World Cup match from the time when football was fun, exciting and bringing people together! It will remain a secret for a while which match we choose, to keep the live feeling as real as possible.
For fans of:
Football, John Zorn, silent cinema, bardcore, Cobra
Luke Deane, voice, electronics
Pietro Frigato, electric guitar
Ragnar Árni Ólafsson, electric guitar
Christine Cornwell, violin
Robert Nettleship, drums, percussion
Arnout Lems, voice
Lucija Gregov, cello
