Frank Hurricane + City Dragon + Ash {Futura Resistenza}
The second Futura Resistenza event with Frank Hurricane (US), City Dragon (CA/FR), and Ash (NZ/NL) in the new and improved Roodkapje concert space!

Frank Hurricane is a steward of benevolent mischief, and there is no slowing his holy roll. He has inhaled deeply from a wide swath of his country’s bizarre atmospheres, and when he exhales one gets the distinct impression that he might actually be making some sort of sense out of an entire host of experiences that might otherwise simply confuse and confound. Frank himself invented the style Gangsta Folk for his music. Some think he didn't have to do that because the mix of hip hop and folk already existed, both good and bad. Think of Beck's slacker hymn 'Loser' and 'What It's Like' by Everlast, but don't ask us why. Terms such as “spiritual” or “haunted” have been yanked down from their ridiculous alters and placed into tactile, more nuanced tonal motifs. His legitimately unique storytelling abilities are allowed to swim to their own peculiar rhythms.
City Dragon is the solo project of Max Kaario, organiser of Parisian karaoke parties and experimental concerts in African épiceries. Kaario describes his work as: "Body-stimulated eroticism that stimulates healthy accidents", and "Gutter-trash and green tropical rhythms". These intriguing sounds are created using loop pedals, microphones, xylophone, saxophone and drum.
Ash is an artist from Aotearoa/New Zealand, currently based in Rotterdam. She works in sculpture and performance, with ongoing projects in sound, broadcast and publishing as modes of collaboration and distribution.

Futura Resistenza is a label and platform from Brussels and Rotterdam, that operates somewhere on the border between performance, music and visual arts. Roodkapje asked the label to program a series of concerts in our venue. Throughout this year Futura Resistenza invites musicians and artists who already have a connection with the label, as well as people who they simply admire and want to see perform. Some confirmed names include: Matchess (Circuit des Yeux), Frank Hurricane, Pierre Bastien, Ben Bertrand and Efraín Rozas.
