Over two years in the making, Lavinia Xausa and Roodkapje present the multidisciplinary project Truly, Madly, Deeply. Accompanying the documentary film So Loud the Sky Can Hear Us, shown at the upcoming IFFR, Lavinia Xausa created an installation that gives us a glimpse into her investigation of the world of Feyenoord and its supporters. To celebrate both installation and film, Rotterdam-based fashion designer Nada van Dalen created a supporter scarf that can be obtained at Roodkapje/Burgertrut exclusively.

In Truly, Madly, Deeply, Xausa investigates the love between Rotterdam’s football club Feyenoord and it’s dear supporters, attempting to understand the multitude of identities and voices that in the stadium always sound united as one: how can such plurality be portrayed through such a strong sense of unity?

With winning the prestigious RTM Pitch for promising film-makers, Xausa turned her research into a movie that will premiere during the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in 2022. As the film So Loud the Sky Can Hear Us is shown at IFFR, Truly, Madly, Deeply, provides a spatial and atmospheric installation that breathes the intensity of the film, showcasing another aspect of Xausa’s multidisciplinary approach to this project entirely.

So Loud the Sky Can Hear Us explores the identity of a group of Feyenoord supporters. They unfold a hidden world of faith, love, compassion, and vulnerability. As Xausa attempts to trace back the 'lost voice of God' among the voices of the supporters, she wonders how the lost monophony of ancient chants may turn into a new polyphony.
Between Thursday 27 January and Sunday 06 February So Loud the Sky Can Hear Us will be on view during IFFR.

The installation is on view for free during Burgertrut take-away opening hours on Tuesday-Sunday 12-8pm

ABOUT LAVINIA XAUSA
Through her video-based, yet multidisciplinary works, Lavinia Xausa (1992, Bassano del Grappa, IT) tackles intense questions about our human existence while investigating relationships between image and meaning. Both anthropologic and semiotic in approach, Xausa’s work takes shape not only as (short) films, but also as installation and photography. Truly, Madly, Deeply succeeds Xausa’s in-depth project It’s Further Than Hip-Hop, featuring both film and music album, and that was presented in different constellations at TENT Rotterdam, Noorderlicht Fotofestival Groningen, and at Prospects & Concepts during Art Rotterdam 2021.
