WRONG SIDE OUT
Saturday 18 December, from 11:30 - 14:00
with Gijs Gieskes

Roodkapje invites electronic artist Gijs Gieskes during “Wrong Side Out” to open up his world of strange sound machines, beeps, boops and white noise. During this hands-on workshop, you will assemble your own sine wave generator, a small circuit producing tones. Dive into the world of resistors, volts and wires, and become a master of modulation.

Gijs Gieskes is an industrial-designer/artist from the Netherlands specializing in the design of electronic devices, for audiovisual use. The devices are often sold as kits but also pre assembled. He also gives workshops, concerts, lectures and has exhibitions.
When I started to make electronic things I knew almost nothing about how they work, but with simple solutions I managed to make usable instruments anyway. For instance I used a speaker as a relay, where a transistor should have been used. Because of knowing little I used my creativity in a none efficient way, I invented things that already existed. But I feel proud of these inventions, for instance the Relay the Vactrol and the Phase Locked Loop. Nowadays I know much more about electronics, but I still want to work the same way as when I started.

Ever wake up feeling that you stepped out of bed with the wrong foot? We are here to celebrate the oddities these days bring. When messing with the routine and conventions manifests into creativity. “Wrong Side Out” surfs the strange soundwaves, challenging your perception, giving life to inanimate objects and presenting them to you as a mozaique of well crafted madness.

Our program consists of a deranged blend of experimental electronica, live performances and deviant music put together to create a one day program to end your year in total confusion.

Wrong Side Out is a collaboration between HCL residents Lousia Teichmann, Ruta Genyte and Arjuna Vlasblom
