HCA WORKSHOP | I Scan and so (S)can you, an online 3D-scanning workshop with Gill Baldwin

Wednesday, April 21th, 19:30 – 20:30

Tickets: € 4,- (including materials) https://roodkapje.stager.nl/web/tickets/111060953

Please note: there is a maximum of 15 participants to this workshop

In her practice HCA-artist in residence Gill Baldwin investigates the effects digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence have on our daily lives, navigating their biases, and questioning who (should) have agency or control, while considering how these technologies influence our perception on what it means to be human. As part of Baldwin’s residency at Roodkapje, she now offers you the possibility to explore incorporating technologies into your creative workflow, by teaching you how to make 3D-scans and including them in your process.

PRACTICAL

In order to partake in this workshop, you need a working smartphone with access to the Appstore or Google Play, and the free to download app Qlone.

You will also need a fascinating object that you want to scan. We recommend that it’s about the size of your hand, not any larger.

In order to scan, you will also need a rotating mat. These will be provided by Gill Baldwin and can be retrieved from Roodkapje before the workshop. We will inform you how to retrieve it.

ON GILL BALDWIN

Gill Baldwin uses analog and digital methods to explore the biases and behaviours of contemporary digital technology. Her background as an interior architect explores the incorporation of digital technologies within the built environment and their effect on the neighbourhood, the self, and human agency.

AGENCY & MACHINE

Directly inspired by the work and research of HCA-Artist Gill Baldwin, Agency and Machine asks the question what happens when artists, musicians, designers, and other creatives interact with technology, hard- and software, and Artificial Intelligence. Through all events attached to Agency & Machine, Roodkapje aims to challenge you to think further about what is human and what is machine, and who, in the end, is actually in control.

ROODKAPJE’S HAMBURGER COMMUNITY

The Hamburger Community programs of Roodkapje provide two yearlong development trajectories for five young, talented artists (Art), and five aspiring event programmers (Live). Throughout the year both the Hamburger Community of Art and Live collectively work towards five interdisciplinary programmes built around the work and research of the individual Hamburger Community artists.

During their stay at Roodkapje the artists and residents will receive guidance and support from professionals from their respective fields, and through an in-depth trajectory that is aimed at further developing their professional skills and positions.
