Michelle Louise Samba
Michelle Louise Samba works with rhythm as resistance. She composes through body, bureaucracy, breath. Her performances and installations are charged. At times raw. At times quiet. Time slows down. Repetition scrapes. Structures come into view.
She uses drums as precision. Language as interference. An object can leave something behind. Her work moves between underground and ceremony, a dance floor and a ministry. Sometimes it happens at the centre. Sometimes only at the edge. The audience joins or observes. No one stands outside.
She has worked with the Marina Abramović Institute, Dutch National Opera & Ballet, and the Ministry of Justice. Her work has been shown at festivals, in museums, in the street, and in spaces where something needed to shift. She lives in Amsterdam. She grew up in the north. Her work comes from the margins. But always speaks from up close.

“25 years and her life is still trying to get up that great big hill of hope for a destination” - 4 Non Blondes
Brussels-born, Rotterdam-based singer-songwriter Viana Afoumou was once a resident of the Hamburger Community, running on a treadmill to escape the darkness of mankind (see Mama Always Told me not to run in the Dark, Live at Roodkapje). She has not stopped yet. On her birthday, she presents the product of her life/her life as a product, together with multi-instrumentalists Nefeli Beri (NEFLELI) and Alicia Breton Ferrer.
vixnde (prononced “viande”) offers an intimate and layered exploration of sound, silence and voice, intertwined with stories and songs. Some would call it experimental pop.
Jam session
We close the night with a jam session. Drums available! So bring your favorite instrument(s) along with your pyjama xx
Food
No proper pyjama party without snacks! I (Viana) will prepare my most iconic breads and serve them with some delicious homemade jam. Included in the ticket price!!! All vegan.
