The Belgian trio BLUAI is like a polaroid photo full of distant nostalgia and memorabilia. Songwriter Catherine Smet captures memories of her youth in her lyrics, playing them back in a musical film soaked in Americana, countrypop, and indie folk. While the stories unfold in her homeland of Belgium, closing your eyes transports you to a ranch in Mississippi, with galloping horses providing the backdrop to their music—it’s the soundtrack of a nostalgic coming-of-age film painted in autumnal hues.
On March 1, 2024, the group released their debut album, 'Save It For Later,' a sepia-tinged collection that holds one core message close to the heart: nostalgic emotions are to be cherished. BLUAI embarks on a road trip through musical landscapes where Big Thief, Pinegrove, Haim, and Alabama Shakes belong. With their captivating sound, they have recently won the three most prestigious Belgian music awards (Humo's Rock Rally, De Nieuwe Lichting, and SoundTrack).
