for fans of: experimental music, harmonious chaos, post rock, mushroom connections, deconstructed beats, burning down the patriarchy, smoke machines, noise and karaoke

For their album release party, Rotterdam based post noise band Neighbours Burning Neighbours asked their multi-talented friends to turn the place upside down together on a festival-like evening joining in on their harmonious chaos. On Friday the 13th you will find the newest experimental music, art and karaoke hidden in all the nooks and crannies of Roodkapje. The night will feature multiple Rotterdam-based all-stars premiering their new projects.

Introducing Sapsap, the new born auditive constellation of Luka Lagoone (L’orne, Bed), Maj Rachel and Viana Afoumou (Vixnde) creating whimsical soundscapes born from ginger juice and sugar rushes. Float away on the spiritual noise and ambient audio collages by Doctor Bob’s Nightmare, NEFLELI's texturized electronic music with traditional Greek and Balkan elements. Enter Twentysevenmushrooms' forest in the exhibition space, exploring interconnectedness through art and storytelling. Loiter around the building and find a hidden karaoke bar by SECRET SLIPPERY KARAOKE and dance the night away to DJ ZEZ's eclectic mix of hyperpop and deconstructed club beats. And… more to be announced.

NEIGHBOURS BURNING NEIGHBOURS
Neighbours Burning Neighbours will release their debut album 'Burning Neighbours'. From four different perspectives the band delivers an uncompromising sound full of unexpected structures and dynamics. With powerful vocals that shoot back and forth and arrangements that effortlessly switch between melancholic and foreboding, the band pierces straight through the void and fills it with harmonious chaos.

In 2023, Neighbours Burning Neighbours recorded their first full-length album. The result? A mix of distorted sounds that twist in all kinds of directions to ultimately form an explosive whole.

sapsap
What is this curious cluster on the floor? Is this Sapsap?
In a bliss, the creature takes shape, whispered to life by its odd collectors.
Sapsap is the baby-project of artists and musicians Luka Lagoone (L’orne, Bed), Maj Rachel and Viana Afoumou (Vixnde), born in ginger juice and a sugar rush.

NEFLELI
Rotterdam based Greek artist NEFLELI flows within a contemporary and experimental electronic framework incorporating traditional elements - mainly Greek, and Balkan. She draws references from alternative electronic pop and experimental post-rock music, creating a spherical world that is equally danceable and texturized.

Doctor Bob’s Nightmare
Noise, drone, ambient, psydub
With Doctor Bob’s Nightmare, Fede Claes made the decision to turn her will and life over to the care of SHRUTI, creating a collage of sounds, beats, and coincidences that translates her current rabbit hole.

DJ ZEZ
DJ ZEZ is a queer dj from Rotterdam whose style can be best described as an eclectic mix of hyperpop soundscapes, breakbeat, deconstructed club and acid. When she’s not busy playing DnD or smashing the patriarchy, she’s dumpster diving for a new bootleg or remix to play.

Twentysevenmushrooms
exhibition
Twentysevenmushrooms (Marin de Heij) is an artist, a storyteller, a crafter, a gatherer, a researcher, an organiser, a connector. Through their work they aim to make visible the interconnectedness of lives, cultures, and species and nurture a more-than-human society and community. They explore the relationships between humans and humans and humans and nature and how these can be challenged in relation to the white-western, capitalist, and hyper-individualistic ideologies that many of us grew up with.

SECRET SLIPPERY KARAOKE
Somewhere high in Roodkapje.. you can find a very secret, very slippery karaoke.

This concert is organized by Rotown and Roodkapje and has standing room only.
