Roodkapje x Rotown presents Kumo 99
The unique sound of duo Kumo 99 is a fusion of electronic dance music infused with an unmistakable punk mentality. The fusion of jungle and drum ‘n’ bass, combined with a high moshpit content, results in something both raw and explosive – a tight interplay of energetic breakbeats and pumping hardcore beats. Vocalist Ami Komai plays it cool most of the time; her sultry, panther-like voice perfectly matches the pounding basslines and restless beat changes that propel this project forward like an irregular heartbeat. But she also shows that she is not averse to pure, unadulterated aggression; these are the moments where the tension built up in their tracks comes to an explosive release.
With Ami Komai’s background in LA hardcore bands and Nate Donmoyer’s impressive resume (previously signed to Ninja Tune as Shuttle and producer/writer for artists such as Gesaffelstein, The Weeknd and Pharrell), they have merged their influences into three albums. With Komai singing in Japanese over hardcore rave beats, it's hard not to get swept up in the enthusiastic energy of Kumo 99.
This concert is organized by Rotown and Roodkapje and is standing room only.
