With Agency & Machine drawing to a close, Roodkapje looks back on the successful first joined program made by the resident programmers of the Hamburger Community of Live and the artists of the Hamburger Community of Art. Agency & Machine was build as a series of events emerging from the work and practice of Hamburger Community artist Gill Baldwin, engaging with the question of what happens when artists, musicians and other creatives engage with (digital) technologies, data, and artificial intelligence.
As a result of this program, Agency & Machine will be concluded with the release of the first Hamburger Community publication, bundling together the experiences of participating residents, artists, musicians, and researchers during the conception of Agency & Machine. The printed publication is accompanied by a cassette-tape with two new electronic compositions made by musicians Daanie van den IJssel and Tommy van Leuken, following their involvement in the Technology in Music project that was one of the centrepieces of the program.
The Agency & Machine publication and cassette (both designed by Jacopo Lega) will be released in a limited edition of 150 during a garage-sale event on Friday, May 14th. Copies can be pre-ordered through our webshop for € 14,95.
Artist Edition
Along with the release of the publication and cassette-tape, the first 10 of 150 editions are available with a unique 3D-printed sculpture by Gill Baldwin, based on her ongoing sculpture-series Impossible Bodies. These one-off artist editions will be available during the Garage-sale event on Friday, May 14th, and can also be pre-ordered through our webshop for the special price of € 90,-.
